ITRI, MediaTek Cooperates in 5G Technology
December 22, 2017

The Taiwan government-backed ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute) said that it has succeeded in developing 5G technology with MediaTek, the United Daily News reported on December 18. They have jointly developed LWA (Wi-Fi Link Aggregation/LTE (Long Term Evolution) prototype system, which not only has boasted to help achieve a transmission broadband speed of 700 Mbps but also can improve the bandwidth in the 38/39 GHz mmWave to solve limitations caused by high frequencies. The prototype system is the world's first 4G+5G dual-mode small base stations leveraging LTE ad 38/39GHz mmWave. In addition, the partnership will also include the development of MUST(Multi-User Superposition Transmission) technology, which can tap the transmission demand for 5G base stations.
With the support of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs Technology, ITRI and MediaTek have started their cooperation since 2015.
